Forecasters say Tropical Storm Nadine is near hurricane-strength in the Atlantic
The National Hurricane Center said early Friday morning that Nadine was 800 miles northeast of the Lesser Antilles islands in the Caribbean Sea, with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph. It is moving north-northwest at 15 mph. A turn toward the north and decreasing speed is expected later today.
The system's strength has changed little the last couple of days and is not expected to change much in the next 48 hours. Any strengthening would allow Nadine to become a hurricane.
