The National Hurricane Center reported that tropical Storm Ileana has strengthened. The storm has maximum sustained winds near 60 mph with some higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours and Ileana could be a hurricane within the next two days.
At 8:00 p.m. Ileana was located 415 miles south of the southern tip of Baja California.
Tropical force winds extend outward up to 60 miles from the center.
