The Orionid meteor shower is one of two showers created each year by the Earth passing through the dust released by Halley's Comet.  It will peak the morning of October 21st.  

The Orionids generally begin on October 15th and ends on October 29th with it peaking during the early morning hours of October 21st.  The Orionids are barely visible on the beginning and ending dates but during the maximum period, around 20 meteors per hour can be seen.

The best viewing for the Orionids is between midnight and dawn on October 21, 2012.
