Hurricane Rafael is expected to pass east of Bermuda on Tuesday.

Rafael is expected to bring storm force winds and rough seas as it passes about 100 miles southeast of Bermuda, said Wayne Perinchief, chairman of Bermuda's Emergency Measures Organisation.

However, we are expecting the worst of the storm to pass to our east," he said.

Early Tuesday, Rafael, with 85 mph winds, was about 395 miles (635 kilometers) south of the island, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said.

The center of Rafael is expected to pass east of Bermuda Tuesday afternoon or evening, according to the center.

Forecasters said the island might see 2 to 4 inches of rain from the storm.
