The National Hurricane Center reported during their 2:00 PM update that the center of Hurricane Paul (now a Category One hurricane) was located approximately 10 miles SW of Cabo San Lazaro. Paul has maximum sustained winds of 75 mph and has slowed down and is moving North at 15 mph. Paul will continue to move near the west coast of the Baja California peninsula within the next twelve hours.
Tuesday, Paul drenched the area with 10 inches of heavy rain, triggering floods and mudslides, while weakening considerably after reaching Category 3 status Monday night.
Paul is expected to gradually turn to the Northwest and decrease its forward speed late Wednesday.
Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 30 miles fro the center while tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 115.
