An advisory issued by the National Hurricane Center  reported that Hurricane Kirk is rapidly gaining strength in the open Atlantic.  

The center of Hurricane Kirk is located about 1065 miles NE of the Northern Leeward Islands.  It has maximum sustained winds of 90 mph and is moving NNW at 13 mph.  It is expected the Kirk will continue this path through tonight and then turn towards the North on Friday and North-Northeast by Friday night.

Kirk could become a Category 2 hurricane on Friday.

There are no coastal watches or warning in effect at this time.
